Soldier

This shoot was shot for packaging for the popular computer game Soldier.
New Portfolio season

The time comes every August when I start looking at the last few years photoshoots and decide which ones to use for my new portfolio. Either look at some of the older images and having not seen them for a space of time and re-see them in a new light. The styling of the images can change and give an old image new life.
USA Road Trip 2007
This little video has been sitting in the archives for a little white so I thought I would give it a little showing on YouTube. Looking back its amazing how video has changed even in the last couple of years.

Missimo.com Playboy Bunny turns 50yrs

Playboy turns 50 years old. The Playboy Bunny costume that is!
Missimo.com has just launched its brand new website www.missimo.com featuring the exclusive official Playboy Bunny costume.
We built the set at my studio, and with the help of a little smoke and mirrors we managed to created the atmosphere of the 1960s Playboy club changing room. The famous Playboy Bunny costume turns 50 years old and has quite a bit of history behind it. Check out all the different designs available on the website and you will be surprised at the different styles available.
We did the shoot on the Nikon D700 which has super low light capabilities which helped as we were using just ARRI movie lights to create the great atmosphere.
Retro 1950s Pinup

Pinup in the 1950s looked so innocent! Its all changed now with girly magazines now showing a lot more. These pinup styles of images were intended to be cut out of magazines and as the name suggests be pinned up on the wall to brighten up the day of a mans locker room.
The model is Nikki who is the Face of Missimo.com so check it out online here Facebook Missimo
Camera was a Contax 645 with the 80mm lens and a Phase One digital back
Passport to Paradise TV

Well here it is! The cover shot to Passport to Paradise. If anybody has been wondering where we have been disappearing on and off for the last few months here is the answer. Exotic locations, white beaches, sunny with blue skies and beaches. A photographers ideal job. In reality its sand in the camera, sweat dripping into your eyes, early mornings and long days! But what the hell its better than wind chilled icy London where you could be mugged for your camera bag!!
“Passport to Paradise” is a brand new travel TV show about to hit the TV airways. This one was shot in the Bahamas where we shot the magazine to go with the show! Join our special Facebook page to follow the story! Facebook Link
Cant get more simpler than this!
A great model, a great outfit, a great location, a great prop, great make up, great hair, a bit of grass and a bush, a quantum flashgun and a Nikon camera and 50mm 1.4 lens and a little bit of digarido on the computer to create this fun little shot!
Its nice to keep it simple!

Louise Cliffe “Naked Beauty”
Louise Cliffe actress and model was recently in the studio for a photo and video shoot. “Naked Beauty”
Shot with a Lowel Rifa eXchange 88 Pro for lighting keeping it simple and clean.
Franky Wedge Pic of the day 280310

A simple shot this taken from the archives. Its one of those shots that seems to get better with age and its great sometimes to return to one of the older images and give it a fresh coat of paint so to say. A simple Bowens sunlight dish with a soft diffuser was used as can be seen in the eyes to bring out the great contours of the models face.
Contax 645 with a Phase one 21P and 120mm macro lens.

Simone Linsell Pic of the day 260310

Another model another boat! This is Simone taken from a Bikini shoot in the Mediterranean. Big white boats on the shady side from the sun give out this beautiful soft white glow which bounces back at the model.
Nikon D2x and 28-70.2.8 lens
Swimsuits on a beach. Zoe Marbella.

This is one of my favourite times of day to shoot just when the sun has gone down and I have the ASA hiked up to 800 and shoot wide open. You simply don’t get it at any other time of day and it lasts only around 10 min’s before its all gone.
Nikon D2x and 50mm 1.4
Pic of the day 240310 “A little lingerie”

A simple little image taken in the corner of my studio with a beautiful model. I wonder if anybody can work out what the lighting setup was?
Ingrid Pic of the day 220310

Originally taken on my old favourite camera the Contax 645 and shot on film this shot has always been a favourite shot of mine. Lighting was simply daylight coming through a window in my old studio in Clerkenwell London and shot wide open on a Contax 120 Macro.
Some may recognise the image as a few years ago it was used by Johnson and Johnson for an advert for Acuvue. I’ve given the image a new little tweak to modernise it a little.

Facebook Profile Pic of the day 160310

This is Emma Jensen. One of my favourite models from over the last couple of years. She has been able to change her look and reinvent herself as you can see from the contrasting video we have just done.
Rock Pools

This is one of those rare occasions where you find a great location to shoot and wanna keep it quiet! This little rock pool is in Southern Spain where we shot Louise Cliffe. This is my Facebook image of the day.
My first Apple Mac

Digging around the cupboards in the studio I found my first Apple Mac Powerbook 540 C brought for $5500 in 1994. They had just been launched at the Apple Expo San Francisco and I flew there from Miami where I was living at the time and paid cash for that baby! God did it scream with Adobe Photoshop 2.5 on the go I could process a one meg image in about an hour! Mind you at the time I had no use for the image as the internet hadn’t properly been invented as yet and magazines had no proper idea of how to deal with a digital image. It was the early days! So the image just sat on the computer looking back at me! But that wasn’t the point. It was the future!
Getting that image into the computer meant you had to take the photo……process the film…..print the image….and pull it into the computer by scanning the image (which could take up to half an hour in Photoshop 2.5 and then we would play around with it for hours seeing what strange things we could do with it and play with the four filters we had. Those were the early days of digital!
The Specs on this computer looking back makes you wonder how we ever got anything out of it as it was so slow!
The Apple Macintosh PowerBook 540c featured a 33 MHz 68LC040 processor, 4 MB of RAM, a 320 MB hard drive, with support for multiple batteries in a sleek portable case and a 9.5″ color active-matrix display. 2 hours of battery life.
The amazing this is that the sodding thing still works! Good old Apple!!! Roll on iPad!
The Playboy Bunny outfit 50th year anniversary 1960-2010
1960
A LITTLE HISTORY
The Playboy Bunny outfit was the first service uniform registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (U.S. trademark registration number 0762884). The costume was made from rayon-satin constructed on a merry widow corset. Satin bunny ears, cotton tails, collars with bow ties cuffs with cuff links, black mesh pantyhose and matching high-heeled shoes completed the outfit. A name tag on a satin rosette was pinned over the right hip bone.
The uniforms were custom made for each Bunny at the club they worked in. Whenever the club was open there was a full time seamstress on duty. The costumes were stocked in two pieces, the front part being pre-sewn in different bra cup sizes such as B or C cup. The seamstress would match the Bunnies’ figure to the correct fitting front and back pieces. Then the two pieces were sewn together to fit each person perfectly.
There was a woman in charge of the Bunnies in each club, called the “Bunny Mother”. This was a human resources type of function and a management position. The Bunny Mother was in charge of scheduling work shifts, hiring, firing and training. The Club Manager had only two responsibilities for the Bunnies – floor service and weigh in. Before every shift the Manager would weigh each Bunny. Bunnies could not gain or lose more than one pound (exceptions being made for water retention). Playboy Enterprises required all employees to turn in their costumes at the end of employment and Playboy has some costumes in storage. Genuine Bunny costumes in good condition have sold for over $10,000. The only two on public display are in the collections of The Smithsonian and the Chicago History Museum.
